The destruction of forests

WE KNOW

Monkeys are not doing it,

Snakes are not doing it,

Neither are beetles or fleas,

Lizards are not doing it,

Birds are not doing it,

They know that we need trees,

Mice are not doing it,

Lice are not doing it,

Cats are not doing it,

Honest,

Bats are not doing it,

I know who’s doing it,

Humans are killing the forest.

Benjamin Zephaniah, from Wicked World

Tree and  forest songs

A song about a lonely tree, from the Anime Kaib:

Tree Song, by Kiyoshi Yoshida

Once upon a time was there
an old and lonely tree
By him folks had come and gone
And he was still standing still

No carved names,
No dance and prayers
Took his sorrows away
He dreamed to have
All lives and hearts
And own them all his own

The children's laughter
Tears for joy
New born babys too
Up he swallowed birds and beasts
To fill his lonely soul

Now that he is all alone
The old and lonely tree
No more song is in the wind
And the tree is standing still

Once upon a time
Was there an old and lonely tree
The clear and blue sky up above
And he was standing still

Shiny snowflakes, rain in spring
Could never ease his soul
He dreamed to have
The whole wide world
And own it all his own

Oceans and mountains
Flowers in white
The sun, the moon and stars
Even the shadows swallowed he
To fill his empty soul

Now that he is all alone
The old and lonely tree
No more day or night exists
And the tree is standing still

Look at the forest scenes in the song that follows:

 A Forest, lyrics (The Cure)

 Come closer and see
See into the trees
Find the girl
If you can
Come closer and see
See into the dark
Just follow your eyes
Just follow your eyes
I hear her voice
Calling my name
The sound is deep
In the dark
I hear her voice
And start to run
Into the trees
Into the trees

Suddenly I stop
But I know it's too late
I'm lost in a forest
All alone
The girl was never there
It's always the same
I'm running towards nothing
Again and again and again and again
And again and again and again and again...
